Competencies: Knowledge of college and program-specific accreditation standards Knowledge of strategic planning practices and procedures; Knowledge of institutional effectiveness assessment strategies; Knowledge of policies and procedures related to the operation of postsecondary institutions and specifically, two year or technical colleges; Skill in the operation of computers and job related software programs; Decision making and problem solving skills; Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public; Skill in the supervision of personnel; Oral and written communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in education, business management or a closely related field *and* Three (3) years of work experience in postsecondary education
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university in education, business management or closely related field; Five (5) years of related work experience in an educational setting; Experience with SACSCOC and/or other accreditation process; Experience with preparation and maintenance of required documentation necessary for maintaining SACSCOC and/or other accreditation; Experience with faculty and staff development related to accreditation requirements.
This position will report to President of South Georgia Technical College.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
The Associate Provost for Institutional Effectiveness will:
- Provide leadership and support for accreditation activities. Coordinates all SACSCOC reports (e.g., Compliance Certification, Focused Report, Response to Reaffirmation Committee, Monitoring Report, Quality Enhancement Plan, Substantive Change Prospectus, Annual Profiles of Enrollment and Finances, etc.) and visits. Serves as SACSCOC Accreditation Liaison. Familiarizes university community with SACSCOC policies and procedures.
- Provide leadership and oversight for comprehensive university-wide institutional effectiveness program, including assessment of student learning outcomes, administrative unit assessment, Comprehensive Program Review for all degree programs, and institutional performance indicators. Guides Institutional Effectiveness staff in determining appropriate assessment strategies for complex, multi-campus environment.
- Provide leadership and oversight for integrated institutional research functions. Conducts advanced data analysis and statistical modeling. Guides Institutional Effectiveness staff in determining appropriate research and analytical methodologies for complex, multi-campus environment. Assists university leadership in formulating issues, analyzing trends, and understanding outcomes that facilitate effective strategic planning, evaluation, and institutional policy development. Works with various offices to ensure integrity of data in the university’s data systems.
- Serve on a variety of university committees and councils (e.g., Executive Council. Provost Council, Academic Affairs Committee, Graduate Council, General Education Committee). Ensures that compliance with SACSCOC accreditation requirements is incorporated into institutional policies and the planning and evaluation processes of the institution.
- Represent the university at University System of Georgia (USG) meetings and by making presentations at state, regional, and national professional meetings; other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Must have knowledge of issues and trends in higher education.
- Advanced knowledge of institutional effectiveness methods in higher education, including qualitative and quantitative research methods.
- Working knowledge of SACSCOC accreditation standards.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, presentation, and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and statistical software such as SAS or SPSS.
- Ability to resolve complex, difficult, and ill-defined issues.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others to accomplish institutional goals.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Minimum Requirements:
- Doctorate is required.
- Five years of experience in higher education, with experience in both university teaching and administration.
- Extensive experience in accreditation, academic assessment and institutional research, including principles of research design and analysis.

SUMMARY
The Research Data Manager works collaboratively to understand, develop, and support the institution’s reporting, data, and analytical needs. This person will have experience working with institutional data and institutional research including interpretation and presentation of data. Reporting to the Director of Office Institutional Research, Assessment, and Planning, the Research Data Manager will write queries, develop reports, and conduct analyses providing accurate, useful, and readily accessible data; develop and implement policies and best practices for strategic data planning, data analysis and modeling, and data element use. The candidate should be able to apply data sampling and weighting techniques, as well as be responsible for data quality and data integrity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:
· Serve as the department administrator update and maintain the department’s reporting/research data marts.
· Design data mart additions and changes to support immediate and predicted departmental needs.
· Responds to requests for surveys, data and information received from outside organizations, including federal, state, and accrediting agencies.
· Maintain a research database system and an indexed archive of institutional information.
· Serve as a technical point of contact to coordinate data mart efforts with other divisions.
· Design, update, and maintain an on-line Fact Book supporting on-line query functions.
· Update, and maintain the department’s web presence and on-line resources.
· Produce scripts and programs to support data marts, ad hoc, and research requests.
· Produce and publish in conjunction with office staff routine or specialized OIRAP reports.
· Provide technical assistance to the college in research, data analysis, survey design, and data management.
Our ideal candidate profile will include:
Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Educational Research, Social Sciences, Economics, Mathematics, or a closely related field with academic preparation in intermediate/advance statistics or mathematics with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in higher education required. Masters preferred. Knowledge of SAS or SPSS, Cognos and/or Tableau, Access, Excel, SQL query language, and Oracle databases required. Experience with Ellucian Higher Education Banner preferred.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills. The ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences is required. Must have experience in data collection and analysis and have the ability to analyze complex concepts and solve complex problems efficiently; prepare short-term and long-term strategies for planning purposes; and demonstrate the use of technology in managing and/or delivering educational programs.
The Research Data Manager will use statistical procedures and principles; have knowledge of accepted methods of gathering and analyzing research data; be familiar with database concepts; perform basic statistical analysis using appropriate software and statistical methods(significant testing, regression analysis, ANOVA, etc.; and present data in various media (e.g. paper, electronic, web-based).
The ideal candidate for this position should be highly motivated, be able to work as a contributing team member; be an independent thinker; and possess excellent analytical and problem solving skills. Incumbent must have demonstrated organizational and time management skills. This position is responsible for producing an electronic, on-line Fact Book and executive decision-support system, as well as a repository of departmentally-authored reports and studies. The Research Data Manager has the general responsibility for maintaining and updating the department’s web presence and on-line resources. The Research Data Manager serves as an expert/liaison to MIT and the campus in a larger data warehouse project.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have advanced skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint). Duties include preparation of spreadsheets, tables, pivot tables, and graphs. This position requires knowledge of PL/SQL and supporting applications, such as PL/SQL Developer, Oracle Enterprise Manager, Crystal Enterprise, Oracle Warehouse Builder. Web site programming experience with scripting languages and software packages such as PHP, XHTML, JavaScript, Cold Fusion also is required.

This position will primarily provide support to the Institutional Research function by responding to external surveys/questionnaires and internal and external data requests; administering surveys within UNG; and assisting with the departmental website. Also, about one third of this position’s time will be used to manage and coordinate the Office of Institutional Effectiveness business operations by being the first point of contact for the office, providing administrative support to the Institutional Effectiveness staff, and coordinating administrative and logistical support for accreditation efforts.
